Pulmonary Biobank Consortium coordinates:
- Procurement and distribution of lung tissue samples from surgical tissue discards from volunteer patients underwent lung surgery for therapeutic reasons.
- Collection of other biological samples related.
- Registration of clinical respiratory data, ensuring uniformity and quality.
In each participating hospital there is a working group formed by:
- pulmonologists
- thoracic surgeons
- pathologists
- local biobanks
to perform the activity under agreed quality standards.
Pulmonary Biobank Consortium is a network infrastructure and its activity is under the supervision of assigned committees.
